INGREDIENTS:
3 ripe bananas, mashed
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
1/2 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips (optional)
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork.
- Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl or on the stove, and add it to the mashed bananas. Mix well.
- Add the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract to the banana mixture. Stir until well combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the banana mixture, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the sour cream or yogurt until the batter is smooth.
- If desired, fold in chopped nuts or chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the banana bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
