Black Forest Cake

Written by admin

๐ŸŒฒ๐Ÿซ Craving a taste of the forest? Black Forest Cake is a woodland wonderland of chocolatey goodness! With layers of moist chocolate cake, fluffy cream frosting, and cherry bliss, it’s a slice of dessert paradise. ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿฐ

Ingredients:

For the chocolate cake:

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 3/4 cups granulated sugar
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
2 large eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup hot water
For the white cream frosting:

1 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the cherry filling:

1 can (14 ounces) pitted cherries in syrup
1 cup fresh cherries, pitted and halved
1/4 cup granulated sugar
2 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions:

Preheat your oven to 350ยฐF (175ยฐC). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

In a large mixing bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

Add the eggs, buttermilk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Beat on medium speed for 2 minutes.

Stir in the hot water until the batter is well combined. The batter will be thin.

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans.

Bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the cakes comes out clean.

Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.

While the cakes are cooling, prepare the white cream frosting. In a mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

For the cherry filling, drain the canned cherries, reserving the syrup. In a saucepan, combine the reserved syrup, fresh cherries, granulated sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens. Remove from heat and let it cool completely.

Once the cakes are completely cooled, assemble the black forest cake. Place one layer of chocolate cake on a serving plate. Spread a layer of white cream frosting over the cake, then spoon half of the cherry filling on top.

Place the second layer of chocolate cake on top and press down gently. Decorate the corner with the remaining white cream frosting over the top of the cake, then spoon the remaining cherry filling.

Refrigerate the cake for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to meld together.

Serve slices of the black forest cake and enjoy!
